Marissa Laimou, a 28-year-old Greek heiress, has tragically passed away in London after allegedly being turned away from two hospitals with a fatal insect bite. Her mother, Bessy Laimou, claims that Marissa’s death was caused by toxic shock resulting from the bite.
The Circumstances Surrounding Her Death
Marissa, who had previously survived breast cancer, developed symptoms such as dizziness, fever, and itching after being bitten by an insect. Despite visiting two London hospitals, she was discharged without proper evaluation. At the second hospital, nurses examined her instead of doctors and concluded she didn’t need admission. She was given antibiotics and diagnosed with an insect bite-related condition. Tragically, she was found lifeless in her bed the next day, September 11.
Hospital Investigation and Autopsy
The hospital involved has acknowledged a “serious mistake” and launched an internal investigation into Marissa’s treatment. An autopsy is pending, with results expected within a week. Marissa’s family is awaiting the autopsy results to determine the specific cause of her death.¹ ²
Marissa’s Legacy
Marissa was known for her passion for the arts and her commitment to theatre. She had recently staged a production of Romeo and Juliet in London and was working on a new project. Before founding her company, Rainbow Wave, she worked with renowned fashion designers Sonia Rykiel and John Galliano in Paris. Her family, one of the most prominent names in Greek shipping, is mourning the loss of their talented daughter.³
