UK-Based Nigerian Born OAP, Richard Edoki Shortlisted For NHR Awards

Nigerian born Broadcast Journalist, Richard Edoki popularly known as Richybongo has been shortlisted in the Best Newcomer Category in the National Hospital Radio Awards 2025.

The awards are run by the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA), a national charity that supports and promotes Hospital Broadcasting in the UK celebrates outstanding contribution by an individual to their station.

His radio show, African Vibe with Richybongo aired every Sunday evening on the Community Hospital Broadcasting Network, CHBN Radio seeks to celebrate the cultural and world view diversity of the African people while fostering inclusivity with the Cornish audience through music, food, dress sense, and language with the aim of creating a shared sense of community.

By exploring African music, food, dress sense and language, we’ve not only introduced the richness of African traditions to our Cornish audience, but also created a home away from home for Africans living and working in Cornwall.

African Vibe with Richybongo have been able to bring the vibrant cultures of Africa to the Cornish airwaves, creating a unique space for shared learning and community.

It’s been fulfilling to see how the show has become a bridge between cultures, helping others to appreciate the diversity that makes our world so special.

The National Hospital Radio Awards will be held on 5 April 2025, as part of the HBA annual conference in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
