A 17-year-old boy, Thompson Adams Omokafe, was allegedly abducted and killed shortly after writing the 2026 UTME in Lagos, in a case that has sparked shock and outrage.
According to reports, Omokafe was lured by two former schoolmates, identified as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ogenata, 21. The suspects allegedly kidnapped him and initially demanded a ₦150 million ransom from his family. They reportedly later collected about ₦200,000.
Police say that even after receiving the money, the suspects allegedly strangled Omokafe to death to prevent identification. His body was reportedly stuffed into a bag and dumped in a canal in Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of both suspects and said investigations are ongoing.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation online, with many Nigerians describing it as a grim reminder of rising insecurity and betrayal even among peers.
