A yet-to-be-identified person has been killed after a police officer fired a gunshot at a mob who attacked him and his team at the Alaba Rago market in Lagos state on Tuesday, January 17.
The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this on Twitter, said the officers had gone to the market to effect an arrest when the mob attacked them. Hundeyin said in a bid to retreat the armed mob, one of the officers fired a shot that killed one of the attackers. He stated that an investigation has commenced into the incident.
