Nigeria Decides: Fake Results Meant To Create Chaos – Police

249

The Nigeria Police Force has alerted of the circulation of fake election results on social media and news platforms.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said this is contrary to the policy and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The police noted that it perceived the trend “as a calculated attempt to heat up the polity and possibly create post elections chaos”.

The spokesperson, in a statement on Sunday, described the posting of fake results as “a disservice, unpatriotic, and a disinformation”.

Adejobi warned the posters to desist from “mischievous acts and wait patiently for INEC’s official results, which are authentic and tenable”.

The police advised Nigerians to go about their lawful engagements, while those billed to go to the polls today should do so in orderliness.
