BREAKING: Supreme Court Affirms Adeleke As Governor Of Osun State

655

The Supreme Court has affirmed Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as governor of Osun State.

In a judgment prepared and delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, the Tribunal dismissed the appeal of Gboyega Oyetola of the APC for lacking in merit.

The apex Court dismissed the appeal faulting the Court of Appeal decision of 24 March which upturned the decision of the Tribunal that nullified the July 16 Osun Governorship election result.

in a unanimous decision the Court maintained that Oyetola of the APC failed to prove its case improper accreditation and over-voting.

It said the Electoral Act has not abolished the voter register, and that whenever there is a case of over-voting there is need for the voter register and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS to prove so.

The Apex Court also stated that the BVAS of the 744 disputed polling units needed to have been provided to prove the case.
