Former Kano State Governor and African Democratic Congress, ADC, chieftain Rabiu Kwankwaso says he has not taken any final decision on joining the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and is still consulting with stakeholders ahead of 2027.
Kwankwaso also denied reports that he had declared for president or endorsed any aspirant.
In a statement titled _“Clarification on My Political Position”_ posted on his X account and obtained by _Arise News_, the Kwankwasiyya Movement leader described recent reports as “misleading narratives.”
He explained that the movement left the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, due to what he called an “externally influenced legal conundrum” that made their stay untenable. Unfortunately, he said, the ADC is now facing similar difficulties.
Kwankwaso pointed to the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed the legitimacy of the David Mark-led National Working Committee but remitted the matter back to the High Court, leaving the party in a precarious position.
He added that a Federal High Court recently ruled to delegitimize the ADC’s last convention, while the Attorney General of the Federation had also applied to deregister the party.
“Consultations are still ongoing. No final decision has been made,” Kwankwaso stated.
