Ministerial List: I Never Opposed El-Rufai’s Nomination – Gov Sani

164

The governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, has denied that he opposed Nasir el-Rufai’s ministerial nomination from the state.

President Bola Tinubu had nominated El-Rufai for a ministerial position, but the Senate is yet to him due to “adverse” security reports against the ex-Kaduna governor.

El-Rufai is rumoured to have met with Tinubu and informed him he is no longer interested in being a Minister.

He is said to have suggested that his former commissioner, Jafaru Sani, should replace him.

Sani, who replaced El-Rufai, was reported on Saturday to have met Tinubu and rejected Jafaru on the ground that he was a loyalist of el-Rufai.

“The only thing that is true in the story is that I met with the president. Every other thing is false and a conjecture to create friction between me and Mallam (el-Rufai),” the governor told TheCable on Saturday.

“I went to see the president specifically because I was worried by the turn of events. I believe both of them mean well for the country.

“At no time did we discuss the issue of replacement. That is the least of my worries.

“If indeed Mallam wants to nominate a replacement, I will never oppose his choice. We are on the same page. Those who know us very well know that this is all lies. We know where the disinformation is coming from but we are not bothered.”

It is believed that a former senator from the state is planting stories in the media to create the impression of a fallout between Sani and el-Rufai.
