British journalist Steve Sweeney, reporting for Russia Today (RT), was injured in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. The incident occurred while Sweeney and his cameraman, Ali Rada, were filming near Al-Qasmiya Bridge, close to a local military base. Both Sweeney and Rada are conscious and receiving medical treatment for shrapnel wounds at a local hospital .
The airstrike has sparked international concern, with RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan condemning the attack, stating that “war journalists are not legitimate targets”. This incident highlights the risks faced by journalists covering conflicts in the region.
