Morocco Crowned AFCON Champions After Senegal’s Title Win is Overturned. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stripped Senegal of their Africa Cup of Nations title, awarding it to Morocco instead.
This decision follows a controversial final match where Senegal walked off the pitch in protest of a late penalty awarded to Morocco. Despite initially winning 1-0 in extra time, Senegal’s actions were deemed a breach of tournament regulations, leading to a 3-0 forfeit loss.
The Senegalese Football Federation is planning to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), calling the ruling “unjust and unacceptable”.
