The Young Christian Workers Movement, Our Lady of Holy Rosemary Catholic Church, Ogba, over the weekend held its first year anniversary with investiture of awards for Patrons/Patronesses and Associate partners of the movement.
The event, which started with the 10:30am mass, was celebrated by the Archdiocesan Chaplain, Rev. (Fr.) Samuel Emeneogu, assisted by the host parish Priest and Chaplain Very Rev. (Fr.) Ochibili Joachim.
Comrade Ejalen Gladys Bernadine, President of the Movement, in her statement, explained the origin of the movement.
According to her: “The young Christian workers is a movement founded by Cardinal Joseph Cardijn in Belgium in the year 1925 in attempt to bring Christian principles to work places and our environment through the Motto See, Judge and Act.”
“Its a movement that identifies with young professionals in every field of life and open to all persons from age 18 and above. The main mission is in valuing the dignity and worth of each young person and enable them challenge social exclusion and take action to bring about change in our homes, workplaces and social life.”
She also said that there are sic centres of the movement located in the Ikeja Deanery.
“We have 6 centres in Ikeja Deanery namely OLHR Ogba, Church of Holy Spirit, Omole, St. Jude Mafoluku, St. Timothy Ojodu, St. peter Claver Ajao Estate and St. Benjamin Olowora.
The Patrons list of the Movement include: Sir Jelily Efedi , Sir Kelechi Ngwaba, Bar. Kelvin Udoh, Sir Lucky Offuman, Lady Funmi Okaka and Amaka Ogbuezi
