The Youths of Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State have condemned the assassination attempt on Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, during his visit to Edo State on February 24, 2026. In a statement signed by Sir Eric-Kenny Maduagwu, Chairman, and Mr Egoh Chamberlain, Secretary, the group described the incident as unacceptable and blamed the Edo State Government for inciting violence through inflammatory comments against Obi.
The statement urged the Edo State Government to take responsibility for the attack, launch a full-scale investigation, and bring the perpetrators to justice. The group also called on the federal government and the Nigerian police to intensify efforts to protect lives and properties, especially during this election period. The statement warned that any harm to Obi would lead to widespread protests and have severe consequences for the country.
The Youths of Agulu emphasized that the Nigerian masses would not take the attempt on Obi’s life lightly and urged the government to ensure his safety. The statement concluded with solidarity messages, including “Long Live Agulu”, “Long Live His Excellency Mr Peter Obi”, and “Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
