Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the recent attack on Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing it as “barbaric and unacceptable”. The attack, allegedly carried out by armed herdsmen, has been linked to a growing pattern of violence in the state.
In a statement, Governor Alia expressed deep sympathy to families affected by the incident and assured them of government support. “The state government stands with the affected community,” he said, warning that such acts of violence will not be tolerated. He commended the swift response of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, noting that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible.
The governor’s condemnation comes amid concerns over escalating attacks in parts of Benue State. Governor Alia has vowed that the state government will not allow such incidents to continue, urging perpetrators to desist from violence.
