Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective March 28, 2026. In a statement on his verified social media pages, Aondoakaa cited “careful reflection and wide consultations” with family and political associates as reasons for his decision.
Aondoakaa urged supporters to remain calm and peaceful, announcing that a new political direction aimed at repositioning Benue State would be revealed soon. He expressed gratitude to APC leadership, including President Bola Tinubu and Senator George Akume, assuring them of his continued loyalty to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” ¹ ² ³.
Aondoakaa’s resignation is seen as a significant development ahead of the 2027 elections, with speculation he might join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
