Legendary Nigerian footballer Henry Nwosu has passed away after a brief illness. He died at 4:00 am today at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where he had been receiving treatment since Wednesday.
Nwosu, a member of Nigeria’s victorious 1980 AFCON squad, was known affectionately as the ‘Youngest Millionaire’. He was a recipient of the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award.
Former footballer Segun Odegbami, who announced Nwosu’s passing, described him as a remarkable individual and expressed his deep sorrow. “May he rest peacefully with our Creator in Heaven,” Odegbami wrote.
