Whoopi Goldberg Sparks Outrage After Calling For Trump’s Removal Following UN Speech

493

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of The View, has come under heavy fire for suggesting that President Donald Trump should be removed from office after his recent United Nations General Assembly speech. Goldberg expressed concerns about Trump’s fitness for office, citing his remarks as “not presidential” and “not helpful.” She even went as far as to invoke the 25th Amendment, a constitutional clause that allows for the removal of a president deemed unfit to serve.

Goldberg’s Assembly Call

During the broadcast, Goldberg stated, “He had a chance to deliver much more than what he did, and they don’t consider him to be serious anymore. I’m worried.” She emphasized that if President Biden had acted similarly, she would have called for his removal as well. Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, correcting Goldberg on the specifics of the 25th Amendment, which allows for the transfer of power if the president is unable to discharge their duties.

Backlash and Criticism

Goldberg’s comments sparked immediate backlash on social media, with many critics accusing her of hypocrisy and misunderstanding the 25th Amendment’s purpose. Some pointed out her silence on concerns about President Biden’s mental fitness during his term from 2021 to 2025. One user wrote, “She was curiously silent during the dementia years of 2021–2025.” Another critic blasted her commentary, saying, “Why do we care what she has to say? Clearly, she doesn’t understand what the 25th Amendment is.”

Context of Trump’s UN Speech

Trump’s speech at the UN focused on global security, trade, and strengthening America’s leadership abroad. However, it was marred by technical issues, including a teleprompter failure and an escalator malfunction. Despite the challenges, Trump joked about the incidents, drawing laughs from the audience. Goldberg, however, described the crowd’s reaction as mocking rather than supportive.
