The 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called on President Bola Tinubu to grant his people’s wish by creating Ibadan as an independent state out of Oyo State. Speaking shortly after receiving the Staff of Office from Governor Seyi Makinde on Friday, September 26, Oba Ladoja emphasized that the creation of Ibadan State is a top priority for his people.
The Demand for Ibadan State
Oba Ladoja conveyed his people’s message to President Tinubu, saying, “My people sent me a message to Mr. President. Mr. President, they said the creation of Ibadan State is their priority.” He urged the President to make Ibadan State a reality before 2027, highlighting the long-standing demand of Ibadan people.
Coronation Ceremony
The coronation ceremony, attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Sultan of Sokoto, former governors, and senators, marked a significant moment for Ibadanland. Governor Makinde praised the peaceful succession process leading to Oba Ladoja’s enthronement, describing it as a source of pride for Ibadan and Oyo State.
