Troops of the Nigerian Army’s COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7 and 8 Division Strike Team have eliminated terrorists in Kadam Forest, Sokoto State, recording a significant operational success.
“Troops of the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7 in conjunction with 8 Division Strike Team, operating under the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have eliminated terrorists at Kadam Forest recording a significant operational success…” – Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, said.
The operation, part of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, followed intelligence that over 100 terrorists had converged in the forest to plan attacks and kidnap locals.
The troops engaged the terrorists, killing three and wounding several others. Recovered items include:
– 1 PKT machine gun
– 2 AK-47 rifles
– 350 rounds of PKT ammunition
– 111 rounds of 7.62 Special
– 3 magazines
– 2 radios
– 3 motorcycles
– A mobile phone
Follow-on operations are ongoing to confirm additional enemy casualties and recover more materials. Troop morale remains high, with fighting efficiency assessed as strong.
This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-driven, joint security operations in degrading terrorist networks, he also stated.
