Newly appointed Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard has said that he does not know the sacked Graham Potter “that well.”
However, Lampard said even though he does not know the former Brighton manager, everything he [Potter] did at Stamford Bridge showed that he had good intentions.
According to the former midfielder, Potter was just unlucky that things did not work out for him at Stamford Bridge leading to his sack.
Graham Potter was hired to replace Thomas Tuchel who was shockingly fired by the owners of the Blues in September 2022.
And just six months at Stamford Bridge, the Englishman was sacked after a poor run of results that have seen the west London side settle in the other half of the table.
While Chelsea continue their search for a permanent coach, Lampard will see them through the remainder of the season..
“I want to say credit to Graham Potter who I don’t know that well but everything I see about him he’s a good man, and a very good coach,” he said.
On what might have led to the manager’s sack, Lampard added, “Sometimes maybe for whatever reason things don’t align, don’t work, whatever, I’ve been in that situation personally.”
