The autopsy for Demartravion “Trey” Reed, the 21-year-old student found hanging from a tree at Delta State University, has concluded that the cause of death was hanging, consistent with an initial investigation by the Cleveland Police Department. The Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office performed the autopsy, and toxicology results are still pending, which may take several weeks.
Investigation Update
The police confirmed that no foul play is suspected in Reed’s death, and all files connected to the case have been forwarded to the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office for further review. Reed, a student from Grenada, Mississippi, was discovered dead on campus on Monday. The family has expressed frustration over the lack of information about the investigation, with their attorney, Vanessa Jones, stating that they were initially misinformed about the location of Reed’s body.
Separate Incident
In a separate case, a 36-year-old man named Cory Zukatis was found hanging from a tree about 100 miles south of Delta State University on the same day. The police are investigating both incidents, but no connection has been established between the two cases .
