Why I Signed Onana For Man Utd – Hag

146

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag explained why he signed Andre Onana from Inter Milan this summer.

Ten Hag suggested that the Cameroonian possesses all the qualities needed to help take Man United to the next level.

Onana officially joined Man United from Inter in a £47 million deal on Thursday, signing a five-year deal with the option of a further one year.

The 27-year-old replaces David de Gea, who left after 12 years at the Red Devils following the end of his contract in July.

“Most important, always for a keeper, is clean sheets, and he is not doing that on his own,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by Metro UK.

“But nowadays, football also demands good playing out from the back, out playing qualities, and that is the quality Andre [Onana] has. So you need both, and you need to cover both areas, so we are happy, of course.

“I think with his physical presence and also with his personality. He is so keen on winning, he is so eager to win trophies, he will help the team and help the squad to get to higher levels.”
