Bayo Onanuga has said that Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, would be facing a firing squad if he were in China.

The journalist made the statement after a presidential panel investigating the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under the tenure of former Governor Godwin Emefiele uncovered unauthorised investments of Nigeria’s funds in 593 foreign bank accounts across the United States, China and the United Kingdom.

Onanugu wrote on X: “If Godwin Emefiele and his gang had committed these egregious misappropriations in China, they  will by now be facing the firing squad for high treason.”
