As Nigeria’s President-Elect Bola Tinubu marks his 71st birthday today; Uzuegbuna Okagbue has sent his congratulations to the President-Elect in a statement released on Wednesday morning.
According to Okagbue, a major Tinubu supporter during the electioneering campaigns, this birthday is significant because, it “marks Nigerians’ overwhelming support for the President-Elect Bola Tinubu. So, this 71st birthday is in fact enrobed by the support of Nigerians who voted for the President-Elect massively. But, by next year when President Bola Tinubu would be marking his 72nd birthday, it would be signified by good governance delivery to the people by the President.”
Speaking on Tinubu’s eventful life, Uzuegbuna Okagbue said that Tinubu is a man of tremendous vision and an outstanding leader whose election as president did not come as a surprise. “Bola Tinubu has had some of the most eventful life in Nigeria’s public service today. He was there during the struggle against military rule and was vocal during the post 1993 election in defense of our democracy. In 1999, he was elected governor of Lagos state and he was on and off the courts trying our democracy and challenging abuse of power by the then central government. While doing this, he was building a political empire that later took over the Southwest from a sitting President at the time and today, we are witness to how far that empire has come. Bola Tinubu is the first person that tried to defend our democracy at any point, to be elected as Nigeria’s president. From every standpoint, nothing can be more inspiring than the total life of service that the President-Elect has led. Many of us are indeed inspired by his leadership and for me, his election didn’t come as a surprise and I am sure that in a year’s time, Nigerians will attest to Tinubu’s leadership capabilities. Congratulations and happy 71st birthday, Mr. President-Elect,” Okagbue said.
Meanwhile, the President-Elect Bola Tinubu is still observing his rest after a tedious election, from where he has gone to observe the lesser hajj. He is perhaps expected back to the country in the coming days, even as handover preparation accelerates.
