Two Persons Feared Killed As Violence Rocks APC Ward Congress

113

Two persons have been confirmed dead following Wednesday’s violence that erupted during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Congress in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Suspected political thugs disrupted the exercise, leaving several others injured and property destroyed.

According to a statement issued by the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, five persons yet to be identified were reportedly attacked, while a vehicle was set ablaze during the incident.

The statement added that three victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical attention, while two others were confirmed dead at the hospital.

The Police Spokesperson said investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and apprehend those responsible for what he described as a heinous act.

The incident comes barely twenty hours after the Ondo State APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, and other party chieftains were reportedly attacked during a stakeholders’ meeting at the party secretariat.
