US President Donald Trump left the G7 Summit in Canada a day early to rush back to Washington as the conflict between Israel and Iran entered the fifth day on Tuesday. The White House, without divulging the details, only said the US President was leaving the gathering of world leaders because of “what’s going on in the Middle East”.
Reports said Trump has instructed his national security team to be ready in the White House Situation Room, a crisis management centre that serves as the hub for US intelligence and national security decision making.
Trump on Monday urged everyone to immediately evacuate Tehran, and reiterated that Iran should have signed a nuclear deal with the United States.
Amid the ongoing G7 summit in Canada, Trump posted on Truth Social: “Iran should have signed the “deal” I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters at the G7 Summit that Trump was considering the prospect of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
“There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a ceasefire and to then kickstart broader discussions,” Macron said.
