The Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has apprehended two individuals posing as police officers with a substantial cache of cannabis in Taraba State. The suspects, identified as Monday George, a 71-year-old dismissed Police ASP, and Ezeugo Destiny Uche, 41, were arrested at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area on September 30, 2025.
Details of the Arrest
Acting on credible intelligence, troops and NDLEA operatives intercepted two Toyota Hilux vehicles loaded with 1,134 blocks of cannabis suspected to have been sourced from Akure, Ondo State, and bound for Adamawa State. The occupants of one vehicle fled upon spotting the troops, abandoning their vehicle.
Investigation and Prosecution
Both suspects and the seized exhibits have been handed over to the NDLEA office in Wukari for further investigation and prosecution. Preliminary investigations revealed that neither suspect is a serving police officer.
Commitment to Combat Crime
The Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops and NDLEA operatives for their collaboration and resilience. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to making Taraba State inhospitable to criminals and drug traffickers. Uwa also urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
