Suspected Herdsmen Kill Two Passengers, Kidnap Four Others In Benue

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have again hijacked a commercial vehicle along Otukpo-Adoka road in Benue State, k!lling two passengers and kidnapping four others.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11 pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025 as the vehicle was en route from Abuja to Otukpo.

Witnesses said the attackers opened fire as soon as they sighted the vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and veer off the road into a nearby blush after which the kidnappers rushed to the and abducted the passengers on board.

The Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Maxwell Ogiri, who confirmed the incident on Monday said the vehicle was coming from Abuja to Otukpo when the attack occurred.

He explained that majority of the passengers had alighted in Adoka before the incident took place.

“The six passengers that were remaining in the vehicle were intercepted along Adoka-Otukpo road, two people were k1lled and four others whisked away,” Ogiri added.
