Contrary to claims that the senator representing Kogi Central at the national assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has no intellectual power to offer on the floor of the Senate, except her beauty, the Kogi born legislator, on Monday, released her academic credentials, with dates and schools attended, passing out in flying colours.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan in a post on one of her verified social media handle, said that she remained one of the few senators who had occupied a very strategic and sensitive committee, just weeks after assuming as a member of the green chamber.
Part of the statement reads: “That Senator Natasha was made Chairman of local content committee 2 weeks that she resumed as Senator. In the history of privileges in the Senate I need to know any Female Senator that was bestowed with such position of trust.”
According to her also, she debunked claim by the Chief Whip of the senator accusing her of disregarding the office and person of the Senate President, by refusing to stand up during his entrance while other sensors stood.
“It was reported by the Chief Whip of the Senate that on 3 occasions that the Senate President walked in for plenary the most distinguished ( indeed ) Senator refused to stand up.”
“It’s about time Nigerian women assume their democratic roles to become governors , vice presidents and even presidents of Nigeria . That way you will not myopically think it’s favor for a woman to chair the committee on Local Content … which I chaired pretty well.
“Mind you: in 2008 and 2009, while an a legal counsel with Brass LNG I participated in the drafting of the NCDMB Act by participating in the public hearing and making contributions.” She said
You may not know that apart from me being a lawyer; I am an Oil and Gas expert with an MBA in Oil and Gas management from the University of Dundee amongst several industry qualifications.
So if to assess my expertise, no senator in the 10th senate has the sectorial experience and expertise to chair the Local Content committee.
You need to see me beyond a woman … a pretty face… I am a technocrat who had the guts to venture into the murky waters of politics.
I am so proud that irrespective of the odds, I refuse to yield to their pressure.
Many of you men don’t know what your wives go through at work places . Most women never find the courage to tell their husbands because they would be judged.
In retrospect, put your thoughts to your home front … protect your wives and daughters from the predators lurking around as friends, bosses etc
“Yes, I didn’t stand to observe the SP’s procession the last two seatings That’s deliberately by protest.”
