The President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has sent his condolences to the family of the late Vice President of the Dangote Group, Sani Dangote.

The younger sibling of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, gave up the ghost on Sunday evening in the United States after battling a protracted illness.

Lawan while reacting to the demise of the billionaire businessman in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday through his Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi, said Sani’s death was a great loss to Nigeria and Africa.

The lawmaker praised the deceased contribution to the Nigerian economy and the passion of the Dangote Group for the development of the country and the entire African continent.

Lawan prayed that the family of the deceased find peace and comfort. He also prayed to God to grant Sani a place in heaven.

He said, “Alhaji Sani Dangote was a great entrepreneur who brought his business acumen to impact positively on the Nigerian economy and Africa in general, particularly in the areas of manufacturing, agriculture and oil services.”

“I share the grief of the entire Dangote family on the sad incident and pray that they find comfort and strength in their faith in Almighty Allah.

“My heart goes out to the immediate family and all the relations of the deceased.

“I pray Allah to comfort and grant them all the fortitude to bear the loss and to accept the soul of the departed into Aljannah Firdaus,” Lawan says.
