177

The aspiration of Senator Godswill Akpabio for the office of the Senate President in the 10th Senate, on Monday, received a major boost with his endorsement by the Governor of Niger State and Senator-Elect Abubakar Sani  Bello.

Adressing the media shortly after a closed door meeting with Senator Akpabio and his team at the Niger State Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja,  the governor said that he decided to endorse the candidacy of the former Minister, Niger Delta Affairs because of his track record in public office and his total commitment to the peace, unity and development of the country,  saying, “I am very delighted to receive my brother, the uncommon governor and his team. He has come to brief me of his aspiration to lead the 10th Senate and to solicit for my support. I have no objection to that. He is tested and trusted. I can assure you that I will work with him for a better Nigeria.”
In his reaction,  Senator Akpabio thanked their host for receiving them and assured him of the commitment of the 10th Senate to always put the interest of Nigerians in whatever laws they pass.
” I want to sincerely thank His Excellency for receiving me and my team even at a very short notice. Let me assure you that as members of the 10th Senate, we will work very hard for the people of this country and return smiles on their faces through legislative interventions,” Akpabio assured.
