In the spirit of the Eid celebrations, the Rotary Club of Ojodu, in collaboration with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), organized a health outreach on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, providing free one-year health insurance coverage to 100 pregnant women and indigent individuals within and beyond the Ojodu community.
The event, held at the Primary Health Care Centre, Powerline Okeira, Ojodu, was a moment of relief and joy for many as beneficiaries—including pregnant women, mothers, fathers, and children—were successfully enrolled in the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme.
The President of the Club, Rotarian Barrister Osi-Evans Ikpunuekhai, was present to oversee the registration process and commended the Lagos State Government and LASHMA officials for their dedication. Despite the Eid-Fitri public holidays, LASHMA officials were on-site to ensure that the beneficiaries were properly captured into the scheme. He expressed deep appreciation for their selfless service and commitment to accessible healthcare for all Lagos residents.
Rotarian Johnpaul Chigbo, the Project Coordinator and President-Designate of the club, also shared his excitement at witnessing the relief and joy among the pregnant women and families who now have access to healthcare for the next year. He reiterated the importance of the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme, which provides prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care, along with coverage for surgeries, chronic disease management, consultations, and treatments for common illnesses.
The Rotary Club of Ojodu, which recently marked its 20th anniversary, has been a dedicated partner of the Ilera Eko health insurance initiative, having previously provided over 300 indigent individuals with free healthcare access. The club remains steadfast in its mission to uplift underprivileged communities through healthcare, education, and infrastructure development initiatives.
Board members and other club representatives were also present, actively assisting with the registration and enrollment process to ensure the seamless execution of the program.
Established in 2002 as a provisional club and officially chartered on March 8, 2005, the Rotary Club of Ojodu has significantly expanded its impact, continuously working to improve healthcare access, education, and community development in Ojodu and beyond.
