A diesel tanker lost control and fell while attempting to turn into Mainsea Filling Station near Borome Roundabout, causing fuel to spill into nearby drainage systems. The accident, which occurred late in the evening, quickly attracted hoodlums who stormed the scene with jerrycans, scooping diesel despite the obvious dangers.

According to the Residents living in the area, name withheld, who spoke with Pechilly Investigative Media, confirmed that the tanker fell on its own while maneuvering into the station to discharge its load. One resident, who chose to remain anonymous, described the chaos that followed, as people scrambled to collect the leaking fuel.

However, Hon. Cyril Ezeora Aka Zubby was praised for his swift response, as he immediately alerted the fire service, police, and army to prevent further disaster. Firefighters worked quickly to cool the scene and prevent an explosion, while security forces controlled the growing crowd of fuel scavengers.

Thanks to the timely intervention, a major fire outbreak was averted, and authorities have since cordoned off the area for safety. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and ensure proper measures are in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
