#OccupyLekkiTollGate: Protests To Hold In Three States, Says Campaigner

One of #OccupyLekkiTollgate’s activists, Mr. Kunle Ajayi, said demonstrations would take place in three states simultaneously.

According to him, the demonstrations will take place in the states of Lagos, Oyo and Adamawa.

He also stated that #OccupyLekkiTollgate is a metaphor that symbolizes the battle for justice and poor governance and for victims of the suspected killings at the Lekki tollgate on 20 October 2020.

“This is not just about Lekki, there will be protests in other states like Oyo and Adamawa. We have to end bad governance and injustice in the country. People who lost their lives should not die in vain. Those who are sponsored to disrupt our fight for justice will not succeed.”

However, a #DefendLagos supporter, Alabi Opeyemi, speaking on the planned protest, urged Lagos residents to troop out to protect destruction.

He alleged that those planning to ‘occupy the Lekki tollgate’ have no genuine reason.

All those who love Lagos should come out in mass to defend the state. We cannot afford another massive destruction in the state. We cannot allow enemies of the state to destroy it for us. This is our home, it is our heritage,” he added.

Some youths had threatened to hold a fresh protest at the Lekki tollgate on Saturday, February 13, 2021 over plans to reopen it for operations
