Nonye: Our Amazon Is Honoured At Home, By Chinaka Nwadike

Charity, according to our age long belief, begins at home. In our African circle, whatever the success a man or woman has become elsewhere, without any recognition at the home front, (community of birth or marriage), that “success” remains a complete and total delusion. You are still nothing and does not deserve any accolades from your people.

As this is so in our culture, so it has permeated deep into our religious practices, especially the church which today, shares almost our traditional culture in common.

And so, it was a thing of pride for the family of the Ancient Nze Fidelix Okorie also known as FOKS, of Owerre-Ebeiri in Orlu LGA, and his in-laws in Atta, Njaba LGA as MRS NONYELUM BIBIAN OKORIE was honoured at home with two major community church titles of *_Ezinne_* (Good/Worthy Mother) and *_Ugosimba_*(Eagle/Treasure from Abroad).

Both awards were given to Mrs. Nonye by the Catholic Women Organization (C.W.O) of her community local parish, St. Martins Catholic Parish, Owerre-Ebeiri on the 20th day of May, 2023.

Nonye’s *_Ugosimba_* title Award was given to her by her fellow women in recognition of her “inspiring years of exemplary married life and positive influences”, while her *_Ezinne_* title Award was in recognition of her “motherly care, selfless services and inspiring years of exemplary christian life and contributions towards the growth of C.W.O in Orlu diocese”.

But behind every successful wife is a standing and supportive husband. Mrs. Nonye Okorie is the wife of Nze Akubuo Jude Okorie of Owerre-Ebeiri in Imo State Nigeria, but residents of California, USA.

Nonye holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information System from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, Masters in Public Sector Management and Leadership from California State University, Northridge.
Nonye’s career spans from Information Systems Analyst in Los Angeles County to Influencer, Content Creator, CEO, Ladies’ Views on Relationship (Lvor), etc.

Nonye has also, through her earnings, continued to cater for the poor and needy at home, and through her social networks, attracted education aides and scholarships to few deserving students in higher institutions in Nigeria.

She is the Vice President, as well as the chairperson, Scholarship Committee of Udoka Women’s Association of Southern California; a meeting group of all women from Orlu Senatorial zone (both by birth and marriage). She is also the President of Atta Nwambiri Daughters Organization in the USA.

Nonye is a peace maker who had reconciled issues among women from her husband’s community, philanthropist, a dedicated and God-fearing Christian Mother and wife, and her marriage is blessed with five grownup children, namely; Adaku, Nkechi, Fidelis, Akuchi and Chimdindu Okorie.
