The Lagos State guber candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, has revealed that he had a discussion with Peter Obi of the Labour Party and his principal, Atiku Abubakar, on forming an alliance with his counterpart in the former’s party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
Adediran disclosed this on Wednesday while featuring on Arise Television’s Morning Show program.
He said he couldn’t agree on the alliance because he didn’t want to gamble going into the election, claiming that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour had two pending court cases bordering on his candidacy.
Jandor also said he would have agreed if the parties put forward the best between the two.
He said, “When Peter Obi called me, because I met with Peter Obi. And my principal also called me, which is Atiku Abubakar, on this matter. Peter Obi said your principal will call you and I will also call the other guy. Let us first discuss whether or not alliance will work amongst you. And I said I don’t have a problem with alliance, the problem I have is how are we going to go into it not gambling by making sure we put our best foot forward.
“When I had this discussion with my principal, and the same discussion I had with Peter Obi, Okay Jandor, how will this alliance work? Of course the alliance can work if we are ready to put our best foot forward and analyze the two candidates. This other person’s has two pending cases on candidacy, one is in supreme court. We are not ready to gamble going into the election. That’s why it didn’t work.”
