The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) is set to launch legal proceedings with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA following the contentious Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) final.
Senegal won the title 1-0 against hosts Morocco, but the victory was overshadowed by a disputed late penalty decision that led to a temporary walk-off by Senegal players.
The RMFF condemned the walk-off, stating it would pursue legal action over the “events surrounding this decision”. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF criticized Senegal’s behavior, emphasizing that violence and walk-offs have no place in football .
CAF is reviewing footage and disciplinary proceedings will follow. Infantino stated, “It is unacceptable to leave the field of play in this manner… violence cannot be tolerated in our sport” .
