A 21-year-old man, ThankGod Destiny, has been arrested by the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) for allegedly kidnapping a four-year-old boy in Benin City, Edo State. The incident occurred on January 4, 2026, at Ikpoba Hill, where the suspect allegedly abducted the child.
The arrest was made possible by a commercial bus driver and a female passenger who raised an alarm after becoming suspicious of the suspect’s behavior. The suspect had taken the child into the bus, claiming the boy was ill and needed medical attention, but later changed his story, saying he was taking the child to buy shoes.
The ESSC operatives, who were on patrol, responded to the alarm and rescued the child unhurt. The suspect has been handed over to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution. The victim has been reunited with his family .
