A 60- Year old man and his two sons have attacked and injured officials of the Federal Road Safety Corpse along Bauchi-Gombe expressway.

The Road Safety officers were on a stop and search duty when the incident happened.

According to the report, the family who also burnt the FRSC Patrol van in the process had been arrested by police.

Narrating the incident to newsmen in a telephone conversation, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, said that the FRSC operatives who were on duty, along Bauchi-Gombe road, stopped the suspects but the driver refused to stop.

According to him, the Father, named Ahmed Gwallaga and his sons, Nasiru Umar aged 42 and his younger brother, Usman Umar aged 39 were driving in a Mitsubishi Pajero Jeep and were heading for Gombe from Bauchi.

They were initially stopped in the morning at Tashan Durumi village in Kirfi Local government by the officers who were on stop and search duty but the driver reportedly sped off.

While returning later in the afternoon around 3.00 pm, the Road Safety personnel stopped them again but this time, they had no escape route than to obey. They were asked for their Vehicle particulars and in the process, a scuffle ensued between the two parties.

The elder brother allegedly launched the first attack by hitting one of the officers, Anas Aliyu and caused a dislocation in the officer’s hand.

He then attacked the patrol team driver and then set the patrol van on fire. In the process, his father, Umar Ahmed Gwallaga, 60 years and his younger brother, Usman Umar Gwallaga, 39 years old, joined him in attacking the personnel.

“Presently, the suspect and his conspirators were arrested and are under Police detention at Kirfi Police Division.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan has directed the DPO Kirfi to conduct preliminary investigations while the case file should be transferred to the SCIIB for further discreet investigations.

“If the suspects are found wanting, the Police Command would charge them to court for arson.” The Police Spokesperson explained.
