Saturday’s Governorship/House of Assembly election was a display; of the CRUDEST demonstration of a sham show of shame; by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); in the guise of election.
Lagos, Rivers and some States competed in outdoing each other in CRIMINAL violation of all universal, national, Local and electoral Laws CONCEIVABLE!
It was a blatant REIGN of Thugs and TERROR; with the security Agencies PROUDLY in COMPLICIT connivance; to INTIMIDATE and SUPPRESS Voters.
So, they can now CLAIM victory; and in this DUBIOUS triumph pretend to now be humble; and may want to be STUPIDLY magnanimous by stretching BLOODIED hand in fellowship!
For those, who still believe in God, they will admit now that God is truly a HUMOROUS God.
He has ALLOWED us all to see the TRUTH and FACTS that support the PROMISE of the APC presidential candidate; when he said he will CONTINUE Mohammadu Buhari’s legacies.
Between the Presidential and Governorship elections, we all WITNESSED the CORRUPTION of the electoral process; with the violence, kidnapping of INEC officials, Vote buying, maiming and killing of innocent Nigerians; whose only CRIME, was coming to SIMPLY vote their PREFERRED candidate.
So, God, in His infinite mercies, has by these occurrences, MADE us to see into the future. He has given us the opportunity to see how the president-SELECT (sorry, elect) will run Nigeria; as the leader of a nation of over 200 million people.
His silence and indeed, body language in the face of all the electoral crimes COMMITTED in the name of his party SPEAK volumes of the kind of president he will be; if he is allowed to RULE the country.
The lessons we have all learnt, in this regard, is that IF he becomes the president, ANYONE or section of the society or country that DARES to disagree with him, will have his THUGS and criminals to CONTEND with.
In other words, he will UNLEASH both the security agencies and CRIMINALS (he would have DIGNIFIED with respectable GOVERNMENT positions) on any DISSENTING opinion; to his reign.
Those who DIGNIFY this type of IMPUNITY as some autocracy, DISRESPECTS the word or ideology. Muammar Ghadaffi was an AUTOCRATIC leader; who turned Libya into an UNRIVALED PARADISE; while he was ALIVE. Jerry Rawlings was an autocrat who bequeathed Ghana with UNPARALLELED enviable DIGNITY as leader of that country.
Like it or not, hate him or not, COMPARED to these lots, Sani Abacha can be said gave Nigerians some LEVEL of dignity.
These guys practiced AUTOCRACY and the people were RELATIVELY Happy; while their society was a lot better for it.
Check out the record of those mentioned above; NONE of them had ANY criminal RECORD or allegations whatsoever!
Thus, being ruled by one with ANY LINK whatsoever to crime; whether in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world, is a different ball game; altogether.
Question is, do Nigerians want such a person to run their Lives for the next four years or more?
Did they ACTUALLY vote for such a character; at a time, they desire a leader; with CHARACTER, above all else, followed by capacity, competence and COMPASSION!
Did have we seen the president-select show compassion in all of the mayhem, Thugs and CRIMINALS loyal to him and his party brought upon the Nigerians he is planning to run (sorry RULE)over upon his being sworn in?
Now that the STORM of the elections is OVER; the next hurricane will be at the courts.
It will be INTERESTING to see how INEC will make sense to the courts on the sham of an election, it has conducted.
Those who say, that the Electoral Act EMPOWERS the umpire with the DISCRETION to conduct the election; and manage the results, ANYHOW it deems fit; will need to CONVINCE the courts beyond the position they are holding today.
Even if the court were to agree with them temporarily, the Court will also need to EXPLAIN, using the analogy of a football match.
So, BECAUSE the Referee has the DISCRETION to officiate a match ANYHOW, he deems fit, would that be the REASON to award a PENALTY to a LOSING side; instead of a CORNER KICK?
Just so we can UNDERSTAND the RULES, of the referee; that is why the umpire will USUALLY set the GUIDELINES, before the game commences; and as in this context, that is WHY, INEC set up its GUIDELINES in addition to the Electoral Act.
In other words, go to the Polling Booth, thumbprint the Logo of the Party of your choice, drop your ballot in the box provided; wait for the results to be COUNTED and UPLOADED!
You can’t SHIFT the goal post in the middle of a match.
These are NORMAL human rules; in this kind of enterprise, ANYWHERE on this planet; because, we are all human beings. Even trained Pets, such as Dogs, will QUEUE up to do what their Trainer or Handler has instructed them to do; ACCORDING to the GUIDELINES, he lays out for them.
We are not dogs or some Pets; but humans; nor are Nigerians ANIMALS in a jagaban jungle.
However, the open ANIMALISTIC display by SPONSORED Thugs yesterday was the height of DEMONIC interference in a SIMPLE electoral process.
That Buhari, still SEES this CRIMINALITY, and BESTIAL disruption, of the ONLY governance process that would have COVERED up his eight years of TORTURE on an entire nation, as a free and fair contest, shows who he TRULY is; at heart.
Secondly, and more WORRISOME, is that his USUAL silence at CRITICAL times as this, remind us of Femi Fani-Kayode’s narration of one of the early visits, the APC spokesperson, made to the outgoing President; when he was coming in for the second tenure or so.
Fani-Kayode said Buhari never FORGAVE the Ibos for the Kaduna Nzeogwu coup of 1966; and the Daura-born General believes power MUST never be entrusted in the hands of an Ibo man.
Could this be why Buhari’s body language is in favor of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s QUESTIONABLE victory at the last election? One is tempted to ask; or POSIT!
These elections, particularly the Presidential aspect, have made it IMPERATIVE on Buhari to INTERVENE and do the NEEDFUL; to clear this evolving SUSPICION; that he would ALLOW this EVIDENTLY criminal conduct of the election to go; just because an Ibo man DULY won.
By the time, this storm is over, Nigerians would have proved that the country called Nigeria is their ONLY nation; and they would no longer CONDONE criminal elements conducting their affairs anymore.
For them, this election is the ONLY chance to FIGHT for their Lives and RESTORE order to their land.
In the coming days and weeks before May 29, the Courts will be the global center of ATTENTION; as each Justice will be in the SPOTLIGHT as one who either STANDS to be COUNTED; for JUSTICE; or one who STUPIDLY aids and abets EVIL!
Nigerians will be WATCHING and will be on standby to REWARD justice DELIVERY or REPRIMAND another BLACK MARKET judgment; in a case so clear, even the devil throws in the towel in DEFEAT!
Finally, the divine intervention that has brought Nigeria thus far, will AVENGE the blood of the injured and the Lives lost; to a NEEDLESS criminal election by Yakubu Mahmoud -led INEC.
