216

A fuel station located on Aule road in Akure, the Ondo state capital went up in flames on Monday afternoon.

The Independent marketing outfit was about discharging product from a truck when the fire broke out.

Eye witnesses said the station was selling premium motor spirit otherwise known as petrol with some motorcyclists already on queue to buy before the inferno started.

As at the time of filing this report, no fire fighting truck or officials were seen on the spot.

Nigerians have been battling with acute shortage of fuel with its price soaring to five hundred naira per litre in some locatios.

The situation appears to have been worse in Ondo State as some motorists claimed they buy as high as 1000 naira per litre.
