The FBI is seeking the public’s help in identifying the individual responsible for the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.¹
Details of the Shooting
Kirk was addressing a crowd of nearly 3,000 students during his “American Comeback Tour” event when he was struck by a single sniper bullet to the neck. Despite emergency efforts, Kirk succumbed to his injuries. The FBI has released images of a person of interest, described as a college-aged male wearing a dark hat, sunglasses, and a black long-sleeve shirt with an American flag design.²
Investigation Update
The FBI has recovered a high-powered Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle, believed to be the murder weapon, in a wooded area near the university. The rifle contained a spent cartridge and three unspent cartridges with inscriptions referencing “transgender and anti-fascist” ideology. Authorities are analyzing evidence, including shoe impressions and a palm print, to identify the suspect.
