Rotary Club of Ojodu, District 9111, on Sunday, August 10, 2025, welcomed the District Governor D9111 Rotarian (Prince) Henry Akinyele and his entourage on a courtesy visit to the club.

Leading the reception was Club President, Rotarian Martins Nnanna, accompanied by Secretary/President Nominee, Rotarian Johnpaul Chigbo; Assistant Governor, District 9111, Rotarian Jellily Efedi, who also serves as Club Membership Chair; Past Assistant Governor and Training Facilitator, PAG Agborpasschal Onyejegbu; Immediate Past President, Rotarian Osi-Evans Ikpunukhai; Foundation Chair, Rotarian Austin Okhai; Service Chair, Rotarian Chibuzor Onyilimba; Club Treasurer, Rotarian Chiedozie Umejih; along with other dedicated members of the club.

The highlight of the visit was the commissioning of a fully equipped, solar-powered sickbay at Agidingbi Primary School, Ikeja — the club’s first major project of the Rotary year. The facility is designed to provide immediate care for pupils who feel unwell or sustain minor injuries, ensuring comfort, prompt medical attention, and preventive measures against the spread of illness. Its solar power system guarantees uninterrupted electricity, keeping medical equipment, fans, and air conditioning in constant operation.

Speaking on behalf of the school, Headmistress Mrs. Oseni Fatimah Olasumbo expressed deep gratitude to the club for prioritising the pupils’ health and investing in sustainable, reliable energy for the facility. District Governor Akinyele commended the initiative as a bold, life-saving intervention and urged the school management to maintain the sickbay in top condition. Club President Nnanna noted that the project reflects Rotary’s commitment to serving as a first-response safety net for children, reassuring both pupils and their families.

As part of the visit, the District Governor chaired a Board meeting with the club’s leadership to review ongoing projects, finances, and strategic plans for the year. The District Governor’s delegation included District Governor-Elect, Rotarian Bukola Bakare; District Governor-Designate, Rotarian Samuel Ayetutu; Executive District Secretary, Rotarian (PP) Michael Effiong; Chief of Staff to the DG, PAG Bisola Satuyi; and the DG’s Personal Assistant, Rotarian Babatunde Olawuyi Abinibi.

The day concluded with the presentation of food items to Ozanam House, Ikeja, a Catholic-run facility under the Society of St. Vincent de Paul that serves as a hub for charity, welfare, and community support. Gifts were also presented to the District Governor and members of his team in appreciation of their visit.

Rotary Club of Ojodu, granted provisional status in 2002 and officially chartered on March 8, 2005, began with 26 founding members committed to promoting fellowship and delivering impactful community service. Guided by the Rotary motto, Service Above Self, the club continues to build resilience, adaptability, and strong partnerships to uplift lives in Ojodu and beyond.
