Chief Wole Olanipekun At 70, By Gani Adeniran

Congratulations sir and happy 70th birthday to Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, the former Chairman of Council and Pro-chancellor of University of Ibadan and my senior at Ilesa Grammar School and arguably the SHINING leading light in the Nigerian legal firmament and a politico legal colossus! My brother my friend my confidant and my immutable benefactor. I have remained etched on to you for decades and will remained so for the rest of my life without half measures! As Chairman of Council, I worked closely with you Sir.
Your knowledge of university governance is outstanding, your ability to diffused tensions were gargantuan and the ability to take informed decisions can never be faulted. Very recently you made physical appearance at the Presidential Visitation Panel at no expense to the University and held the members spelt bound. Your tenure as Chairman witnessed a most salutary engagements with the federal government and the university was the better for it. You left indelible marks on the sound of time.
I make bold to say that no Chairman has yet to beat your records let alone surpassed it. Little wonder you are being requested to be Chairman of Council in other Universities. Your philanthropic gesture in your native community and elsewhere is without equal. Few years ago I recall that you got a law school bound student into your Scholarship list within 48hours through my input when you have never met the person, and my humble self never met or knew the person.
Our journey to Ikere Ekiti for the Award ceremony was simply providential Oga. At 70 you have arrived and towering. May God satisfy you with longlife and sustained prosperity. Igba odun odun kan Gbogbo igi te’legbede ba fowo kan didun ni. You will be 80, 90 in sound health and splendour. After 100 years kindly count me out with due respect sir ire o
