BREAKING: Senate Screens Cardoso As Central Bank Governor

212

The Senate is currently screening the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, and four others nominated by President Bola Tinubu as deputy governors of the apex bank.

Tinubu had approved Cardoso’s nomination last week as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria pending his confirmation by the Senate.

Cardoso assumed duty as Governor of the apex bank in an acting capacity pending his screening and expected confirmation by the Senate.

The deputy governor nominees include Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala Bello.

The screening process was initiated following a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele.
