A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Laven Denty Jacob, representing Pankshin South, has been kidnapped at his residence in Anguwan Kagji, Dong community, Jos North LGA. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm on Monday, according to a close aide.
The aide stated that three masked men attacked the lawmaker at his gate, overpowering his security personnel and taking him away in their vehicle. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N50 million from the family.
This incident has caused concern in the community, coming just ten days after a corps member and a University of Jos student were kidnapped in the area. The Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, is yet to respond to inquiries.
The lawmaker’s kidnapping highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, and the community is eagerly awaiting his safe release.
