Breaking: First Executive Civilian Governor Of Lagos State, Jakande, Is Dead

The first executive civilian Governor of Lagos state in the second republic, Lateef Jakande is dead. He died in the early hours of Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the age of 91.

In a tweet announcing the death of the former governor, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said: “With gratitude to God for a worthy life well spent in the service of Lagos State, Nigeria and humanity, I announce the death of a venerable statesman, outstanding politician, public administrator and the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.”

The late former governor, served the state during the second republic between 1979 and 1983 until when the military took over.

He was reputed to initial infrastructural projects in the state during his tenure as the governor, including house, roads, power among others.
