The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has confirmed that one of its senior lecturers, Dr. Samuel Ojogbo, is under investigation for allegedly raping a 20-year-old female student on campus. The incident reportedly occurred on August 22, 2025, when the student, a 300-level undergraduate, was invited to Dr. Ojogbo’s office in the Faculty of Management.
Details of the Allegation
The student alleges that Dr. Ojogbo forcefully had carnal knowledge of her during the meeting. She reported the incident to the police on August 28, 2025, and received medical attention at a nearby hospital. The university’s Safeguarding Centre is also providing support to the student.
Investigation and University Response
A panel constituted by the university to investigate the matter has commenced its probe, and the findings will be made public upon completion. UNILAG’s spokesperson, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, assured the public that the university takes allegations of sexual harassment seriously and will take appropriate action after the investigation. The university has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment and urged students and staff to report any form of misconduct.
Police Involvement
The police have confirmed that they are investigating the matter, and the state Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has assured that justice will be served.
