At least 60n persons have been feared dead after an oil tanker exploded in Niger State, North West Nigeria, on Saturday.

It was gathered also that the explosion which left many injured, happened at Dikko Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway when a tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) reportedly exploded as residents attempted to scoop fuel from the overturned vehicle.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the explosion left many victims burnt beyond recognition.

While the exact number of casualties remains uncertain, reports suggest that up to 100 people may have lost their lives, with several others sustaining severe burns.
