Nigerians are lamenting, after the country’s National Grid collapsed on Wednesday.
This is the 12th time it has happened in 2024, which means an average of once every month this year.
The grid experienced multiple collapses in October, with the Federal Government promising a permanent solution to the ongoing issue.
A post on the official account of Nigeria’s national grid on X revealed that the collapse occurred at about 2:06 pm on Wednesday.
“The major grid setback has occurred and the restoration is to commence,” it reads.
The news was funny for @authorityenigma, who saw the funny side of it. He wrote on X: “Good afternoon @BayoAdelabu, please can we put National Grid on Jumia, so that we can sell it off and use the money to buy Heineken.”
But @Gbalid_onvibe was not shocked. He said: “national grid collapse is now a normal thing. Nigerians will only be shock if it stays a week without collapsing.”
@HRH_Ujuaku was worried about the timing, lamenting: “Dear National Grid, this is such a wrong timing please.”
For @tamiz00, it is high time Nigerians went spiritual. “Churches should come together to conduct a National prayer day for the National grid,” he wrote.
