The National Judicial Council [NJC] has recommended Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun of the Supreme Court as the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Twenty-eight (28) others as Judges of various Courts.
The National Judicial Council at its 106th Meeting presided over by the current Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola recommends Justice Kekere-Ekun to President Bola Tinubu for appointment. The current CJN, Ariwoola steps from the position on Thursday 22 August when he becomes 70, the statutory age of retirement. Justice Kekere-Ekun is primed for the position being the Supreme Court Justice next to Ariwoola in the Apex Court hierachy.
In a statement signed by NJC spokesperson, Soji Oye, the Council also recommends twenty-seven (27) candidates for appointment as Judges of States Courts and a candidate for appointment as Kadi of the Sharia Court of the FCT, Abuja to their various State Governors and the President.
